The P601-MC4 allows shorter string designs in combination with SolarEdge inverters down to a minimum of 6 panels per string. However, the device is ideal for use with higher voltage and higher current panels, such as 96 cell (high voltage) or Bifacial (high current) panels. This improved flexibility makes it possible to optimize smaller installations for maximum energy yield.

SolarEdge's power optimizers maximize the energy yield of each panel by constantly monitoring the maximum power point of each panel. Optimal efficiency is achieved by automatically setting the voltage in a string to a fixed level and the power can be monitored via the SolarEdge portal. Each power optimizer includes the unique SafeDC feature that automatically cuts the panel voltage when the inverter or utility power is turned off.
