Description
The VE.Bus BMS and VE.Bus BMS V2 are battery management systems (BMS) designed to interface with and protect one or more Lithium Battery Smart 12.8 V & 25.6 V batteries (LiFePO4 or LFP) in systems with Victron inverters or inverter/chargers equipped with VE.Bus communication. The BMS monitors and protects the batteries against over voltage and under voltage of each individual cell, and against too high or too low temperature.
Depending on the status of the battery or batteries, the BMS will:
Give a pre-alarm to warn of imminent undervoltage in the cell.
Switch off the inverter if the voltage in the cell is too low; with VE.Bus inverters or inverter/chargers this is done via the VE-Bus, and with other loads via the “Disconnect load” terminal.
Switching off if the voltage in the cell is too high or the temperature in the cell is too high or too low; with VE.Bus inverters or inverter/chargers, charging is switched off via the VE-Bus, with other chargers it is switched off via the “Disconnect load” terminal.
The “original” VE.Bus BMS is preferably used in systems without a GX device.
The VE.Bus BMS V2 is the “next generation” and has additional features such as:
External on/off terminals.
- Able to disable VE.Direct and VE.Can solar chargers through a GX device.
- Ability to control the VE.Bus inverter/charger from multiple devices, such as the Digital Multi Control, the VE.Bus Smart dongle and/or a GX device.
- Auxiliary power input and auxiliary power output terminals that keep a GX device powered even when the system is turned off.
